Thing # 17
I am quite aware of the ELM data bases and see their value. I admit to being frustrated with the fact that the right up mentions that they are free and available to all Minnesota citizens. As far as I am aware this is not true, at least for five small libraries who have chosen not to be a part of a regional system. They seem to be held hostage for their being independant. Those Minnesota citizens are not allowed free and equal access do to "turf protection".
Thing #15
after listening to and watching the video and reading about "Second Life" I don't really see it fitting in to the mission of the library. Considering the heavy use of our computers at this time, and the currant economic climate this seems to be something to be done at home rather than a library undertaking.
Thing #16
As a former teacher, I found this very interesting. I wish it had been available or that I had known about it when I taught. I do believe that it would be very helpful to both teachers and students. My daughter is in a masters program at the U of M and I am going to send this info to her. Another useful "Thing".

Thing # 12
I find myself getting more frustrated the farther into 23 Things I go. I read through comments and it seems that people spend most of their time complaing about friends, hackers, safety of sites. If there is that much concern, why do them?
